Team Lead Daily Post: Day 9 (5/19/17)

TP and AA went to tutorial to work on the control box on Thursday, so today they were able to finish. There was one switch that didn't work at the end of class, but TP was able to go after school and now the issue is fixed and there is only one more step. CG was absent due to physics day, leaving PL more tasks to complete when it came to the frame. Today she attended Ms. S' meeting for frame-builders and worked on cutting the PVC pipe. The "shopping" sheet and one other paper was missing. We faced several other difficulties as well with respect to the time pressure and a miscommunication. The members working on the control box had thought that the motors were completed, but it seems that most of the work of waterproofing and attaching the motors has not been completed. We hope to sort out all of these issues next class and get our ROV assembled and working. Hopefully our members will be able to devote more time outside of class.

Team Lead Daily Post: Day 8 (5/17/17)

Today all of the team members continued with their respective tasks of working on the control box and frame. There was some miscommunication as to how much of the frame was completed, but we hope to have the actual frame built by next class. One member who works on the frame and motors was absent.

Team Lead Daily Post: Day 7 (5/15/17)

First, our team had a meeting to debrief on progress and to decide on a plan for the class period. AA and TP continued working on the tether while CG and PL designed and completed the frame.

Team Lead Daily Post: Day 6 (5/12/17)

Today our team split into pairs again to work on the motors and control box. The motor team completed the motors and began designing the frame, while the control box team completed the practice circuit board and began working on the tether.

Team Lead Daily Post: Day 5 (5/10/17)

Today our group practiced using tools in preparation for beginning the building process. Patti and Cleo began by practicing stripping wires, while Taiying and Ariel soldered first. Then, Patti and Cleo practiced soldering wires while Taiying and Ariel moved on to the practice board. We all read the instructions for our individualized tasks and discussed our plan for moving forward. Next class, we hope to begin working on the ROV.

Team Lead Daily Post: Day 4 (5/8/17)

Today all of our team members worked on getting our blog up to date, which included creating new tabs, giving everyone access, and finishing daily logs. We also took measurements of the materials that will be used in the challenge and reassessed which tasks are of the highest importance to our team. Last, we watched the safety videos in preparation for using the tools next class.

Team Lead Daily Post: Day 3 (5/5/17)

Today our team completed the "What is an ROV?" tab, and after ensuring our familiarity with the basic ROV systems and parts, we completed our interview with Ms. S. We also discussed the roles that each group member will take on during the building process. Taiying and Ariel will focus on the control box, design, and drawing, while Patti and Cleo will work on the propulsion/motors and oversee building and power tool usage. All members will work on the frame, and more jobs will be assigned and redistributed as we continue with the project. Next class, we hope to receive our supply box, begin the design process, and familiarize ourselves with an ROV in addition to completing our daily assignments.

Team Lead Daily Post: Day 2 (5/3/17)

Today, our previously absent members were caught up on their roles and missed tasks. The blog was set up, and despite minor difficulties, we began working on the "Challenge Guidelines" and "What is an ROV?" tabs. Both the team lead and blog guru met with Ms. S to discuss directions, roles, and responsibilities.
